We have taken great care in the selection of installed software and in setting up the system to help you get up and running very quickly. We have even produced a booklet to guide you. Each system comes with a free 1-hour lesson at our Leichhardt premises. Service is what FC is known for.

The systems listed on the right represent truly great value, thanks to the open source and free software community. The packaged software are not trivial programs but high performance stuff used by large corporations, government departments and universities around the world.

What you get

The installed system includes applications ranging from an excellent typing tutor to the world's no.1 web-server and from word processing to CAD and project management. If you are writing a monumental novel or a thesis or need to produce high quality PDF files or design your web-site, this software package will challenge (and often beat) the most expensive and best known products.

Below is a small sample of what's available to you, installed. The system allows you to select from a list of many thousands of programs and automatically download and install for free (broadband connection highly recommended). Upgrades are available free over the Net and installation is fully automated. In fact you need never have to pay for software again! And you will always have the very latest.

Office

    The OpenOffice.org suite is an extremely powerful office productivity package which includes everything you would expect from a professional office package. It works with Microsoft files and has a look and feel you will be comfortable with.
    Users include the Israeli Government, a growing number of German municipalities and the Scottish Central Police. Here in Australia, a large corporation has installed over 80,000 copies!
    Planner – Project management.
    OCR – Optical Character Recognition. Converts scanned documents to text which you can then open in your favourite word processor.
    Produce slide presentations compatible with PowerPoint.
    Convert documents, slide presentations, graphic design pages directly to PDF for efficient transmission over the Net.

Web

    Choice of web-browsers.
    HTTrack lets you download whole websites to your hard disk for later leisurely viewing off-line. Frees up your phone line.
    Sitescooper – downloads and converts web books, articles etc to text that you can load to your palm computer or simply read in your word processor.

Graphics

    Gimp – Photo manipulation similar to Photoshop
    Scribus – Professional page layout program in direct competition to QuarkXpress.
    Other programs ranging from 3D creation to video capture.
