Steps #3 - Intersteps
The program will be made up of work from seven invited performers from around Australia who are representative of the most exciting new directions being taken by independent performer/choreographers at this time, and the diverse directions of physical performance in Australia.

Performers: Brett Daffy, Claire Hague, Beth Kayes, Meredith Kitchen, Trevor Patrick, Brian Carvee and Tuula Roppola.

Alongside the live pregram will be a photographic exhibition by Heidrun Lohr, one of this country's most exciting performance photographers, an outdoor film Touched by Wendy Houston (dancer with DV8 London and independent choreographer, film maker), and three dance video programs - Contemporary International, Contemporary Australian and an historical program - curated by Michelle Mahrer. And for the first time a second program of nine one-off performances from emerging Sydney performance makers will be run in the studio under the title Studio Steps.

The Sisters Rosensweig
The place is London. Sara Goode (nee Rosensweig), a top executive for a Hong Kong bank welcomes her sisters, globe-trotting travel journalist and writer Pfeni and outrageous and would-be glamorous radio lay analyst, Gorgeous, to her birthday dinner.

Each sister has followed a different path with different results. During this weekend, Sara and her sisters face the consequences of their choices and deal with the men that zip in and out of their lives.

To complicate matters, Sara must choose between living alone and beginning again with the kind of man, Merv, the furrier, that she shied away from during her youth in Brooklyn.

The Sisters Rosensweig by Pulitzer Prize winner Wendy Wasserstein ushers in a satisfying co-operation between contemporary Jewish humour and Chekhovian wisdom. It provides plenty of laughs and yet does not ignore the darker side of life in the late 20th century.

Bewitched by Brigadoon
Be thoroughly bewitched at Parramatta Riverside Theatres as you watch the mythical theme of Brigadoon unfold. The Riverside Lyric Ensemble is delighted to present a short season of this unforgettable production at Parramatta Riverside commencing Thursday l6 October. The lilting score and beguiling lyrics will take audience’s on an unforgettable fantasy ride through the Scottish Highlands.

Brigadoon opened on Broadway at the Ziegfield Theatre 50 years ago and was the first of a string of successes by Lerner and Loewe who later co-wrote the hit musicals Paint Your Wagon and My Fair Lady.

The story of Brigadoon is of a Scottish village filled with love. The legendary story is that of a group of villagers who prayed for a miracle to protect them from a band of marauding heathens. Brigadoon suddenly vanished into the mist and has since returned for only one day in every 100 years. As they are never in any century long enough their lives remain locked in the past. Their existence is threatened when Harry (Peter Alcock) vows to leave. Audiences will delight in the hit tunes ’The Heather On The Hill’, ’Almost Like Being In Love ’ and ’I’ll Go Home With Bonnie Jean ’.

For this production of Brigadoon the Riverside Lyric Ensemble is delighted to have secured Liza Rintel who is a principal with the Australian Opera. Liza plays the part of Fiona and explains beautifully in the song ‘Waitin’ For My Dearie that she is content to wait for the man of her heart. Clarissa Foulcher who is studying at the Conservatorium Opera School plays Meg Brockie and Derek Rose a spectacular Scottish Sword Dancer plays Sandy. Fresh from their success in Riverside Lyric Ensemble’s last production - Murder in the Cathedral, Ian Johnson and Steve Thomas will play the lead roles of Tommy Albright and Jeff Douglas respectively.

Don’t miss the opportunity to experience one of Broadways greatest ever musicals at Parramatta Riverside Theatres.
