NIDA's production of Brendan Behan's 'The Hostage'. A British soldier is captured
and imprisoned in a Dublin brothel and held with the possibility of
execution in retaliation for the pending execution of a young IRA man
in a Belfast prison. Despite the sombre theme, the play is absolutely
hilarious. |

The performance is based on the poem 'Autogeddon' by Heathcote Williams which is a
witty and cynical look at the death, destruction, disease and pollution
that accompanies mankind's obsession with the automobile. |
